Our Team

Here are some brief bios written about our team, by our team (in the third person). Currently living in Idaho are the Iveys, D.O., and the Mills. The Tettletons will move up here in late October, and the Cooleys will move in Summer 2011.

.

Iveys: Colby and Mackenzie were born and bred just outside of Dallas, TX. Colby is a grad from Texas A&M and Mack is getting her undergrad at the school of life. They met and married in 2008 and have high hopes of loads of children to love on one day. Colby likes paper airplanes and is constantly trying to break his addiction to coffee.  Mack makes up her own words and has a phobia of the middle arm.  Colby used to want to be a garbage man.  Now he wants to be a fireman.  Mack used to only eat chicken fingers and cheeseburgers.  Now she likes to make all her food from scratch, the all natural way…but still loves cheeseburgers. Together they are continually learning how to live this life the Better Way.

.

Olivers: The Olivers live in Arlington, TX. Their son, Derrick, goes by “D.O.” and thought it would be clever to title his bio with the plural form of his last name, so as to have it fit the mold of the rest of his teammates’ bios. D.O. grew up in the city in which his parents currently reside. He won the Truitt C. Boles award in 8th grade, and managed to do gymnastics for his high school without anybody knowing it. He showed up to Texas A&M in the Fall of 2002 and the four years that followed were the most life-changing years he’d experienced to that point in his life. There he fell in love with community, the Church, crispy cookies, and alliteration. Post-college found D.O. falling in love with The Village Church, who taught him to love the Gospel, and eventually sent him to the Northwest.

.

Mills: Mikey and Laura are both from Texas.  They met during college at Texas A&M University and became fast friends.  In the summer of 2007, they both moved to Pasadena, California to attend Fuller Seminary where they would just happen to fall in love.  By 2009, they each had a degree (Laura’s a Master of Science in Marital and Family Therapy and Mikey’s a Master of Arts in Theology) and they had each other (for life).  The next year, they decided to become Northwesterners.

.

Tettletons: Jon and Leaza grew up in different parts of the Dallas, Ft. Worth area, and unknowingly, both decided to go to Texas A&M in a sort of last second decision. They never met in college, but probably saw each other a few times (they’re not sure about this). Jon finished in 2006 with a B.S. in Recreation, Park & Tourism Sciences, and Leaza finished in 2007 with a B.A. in Communication.

They randomly met in Pasadena, CA, and this is where our fun began. They were married 2 years later to the day, on Leaza’s birthday, and Mikey and Laura’s anniversary (big day)! Their hearts constantly desire to relate to people from all walks of life. They both enjoy conversation over coffee, taking walks, asking weird questions, and playing outside. Leaza is quite crafty, and Jon can sometimes be found trying to get back to the mid-1800s.

.

Cooleys : Blake and Meredith are both originally from Texas (the North Dallas area).  They graduated from Kansas State University and married after moving back to Texas on October 11, 2008.  They have always wanted to live in the Northwest, and when the church planting opportunity came up they felt the Lord telling them to go.  Currently they teach special education in Frisco, and are finishing up one more year before joining the church planting team in whatever city the Lord ends up laying on their hearts.
